BPL Hall of Famer, John Tedeman, Passes Away

Boston Park League legend, John Tedeman, passed away on February 6, 2014 in his home surrounded by his loving family. The Class of 2004 Hall of Famer was 69 years old.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 14th, 2014 at the Granite Links Golf Club at Quarry Hills, 100 Quarry Hills Dr., Quincy from 11:30am-2:30pm.

John Tedeman was a hard throwing righthander who could make a batter wish they were somewhere else. An overpowering fastball that would easily charge a radar gun at 90+. He had a very successful college career at Suffolk University, his signature game being against Brandeis, when he struck out 21 batters. He signed a Red Sox contract and played 2 years of minor league baseball. He joined the Carlevale Braves in the early 60’s, player-managed by Mike Donato and general manager Tom Menino, the former Mayor of Boston He pitched for the 1969 BPL Champion Craven Club, and finished up with the Supreme Saints.

Johnwas the beloved husband of Audrey Tedeman of Boston; Devoted father of two sons, John F. Tedeman and his wife Kristen, of Boston and Scott J. Tedeman of Dedham and two step-sons, Brian Mertens and his significant other, Lauren of Medford and Matthew Mertens and his wife Kelly of Melrose; Dear brother of Charles “Chuck” Tedeman of FL, Marcia Jackle of Bridgewater, and Richard Tedeman and his wife MaryJo “Joey” of FL; and the adoring grandfather of Grace Tedeman of Boston. He also leaves many loving nieces and nephews and the mother of John and Scott, Karen D. Tedeman of Boston.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or to Care Dimensions (formerly Hospice of the North Shore) by visiting.
