The President’s Award – Walt Mortimer

Tonight, we will honor Walt Mortimer, who is retiring after 65 years of service to the Boston Park League with both the Red Johnson Alumni Award and the President’s Award. The key word in the 1st award is ‘Alumni’, and no one has done more for the Boston Park League than Walt Mortimer since he hung up his spikes 50 years ago.

7th Annual Eastern Massachusetts Amateur Baseball Classic

The 7th Annual Eastern Massachusetts Amateur Baseball Classic was played Saturday, July 14th at Monan Park at UMass Boston.  This event featured All Star teams from each of the 4 amateur baseball leagues in the Boston area: Boston Park League, Cranberry League, Intercity League, Yawkey League.

The Tournament of Champions 2017

The defending champions of the Boston Park League, North Shore Baseball League, Central New England Baseball Association, Cranberry Baseball League, Yawkey Baseball League and Intercity Baseball League will compete in a single elimination tournament to kick off the 2017 season.

A Long Ride: The Harvey Soolman Story

It was a long ride, and in some ways a very unexpected ride. “Way back when,” Harvey Soolman laughed, “[Park League Hall of Famer] Avi Nelson and I used to discuss how we hoped we could still be playing baseball when we hit forty. Well, we made it to forty and then some. We certainly got our money’s worth.”

Park League Honored at 2016 BoSox Luncheon

The 2016 BoSox Club Man of the Year Award was presented to pitcher Rick Porcello. At the time of the luncheon, he held a record of 20-3, the first 20-game winner in the major leagues this year, and the first one on the Red Sox since Josh Beckett in 2007. 13th Annual 100 Innings of Baseball

The 100 Innings of Baseball Spectacular was born in 2004 with the arrival of Curt Schilling to the Boston Red Sox as a fundraiser for Curt’s Pitch for ALS program to aid the fight against Lou Gehrig’s disease. Sign up today to play or make a donation.
